The Dodge County Indians''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. Their rough 27-7 defeat to Cook might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Dodge County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 284th, while Cook is ranked 106th).
Cook got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Keshun Mckever out in front who rushed for 194 yards and a touchdown. Mckever is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Drew Folsom, who threw for 246 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.7 yards per attempt.
Dodge County's defeat was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-0 Swainsboro and 7-2 Bleckley County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 69.7% over those games). As for Cook, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-3.
Dodge County will head out on the road to face off against Berrien at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Berrien is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Cook, they will be playing at home against Fitzgerald at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Fitzgerald's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last four games.
