North Marion is 10-0 against Lake Weir since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The North Marion Colts will head out on the road to face off against the Lake Weir Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully North Marion focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, North Marion earned a 44-31 win over Dunnellon. The win made it back-to-back wins for North Marion.
North Marion's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brenden Barber led the charge by dropping a double-double on 10 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was King James, who scored 11 points along with 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Lake Weir ended up a good deal behind Vanguard on Wednesday and lost 60-43. While losing is never fun, Lake Weir can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 521st, while Vanguard is ranked 218th).
North Marion's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Lake Weir, the last time they won on the road was back last Wednesday. Having now lost three straight away matchups, they've bumped their record down to 1-3.
Everything came up roses for North Marion against Lake Weir in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 74-39 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Marion since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
