Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school girls basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2022-23 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Jazzy Davidson of
Clackamas is the 2022-23 MaxPreps Oregon High School Girls Basketball Player of the Year. The 6-foot-1 sophomore forward led the Cavaliers to a 26-4 record and the Class 6A state championship.
For the season, Davidson averaged 21.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.8 steals and 2.5 assists per game. She was the Mt. Hood Conference Player of the Year and helped Clackamas go unbeaten against in-state competition en route to the program's first state crown.
Davidson is regarded by some as the No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2025. Baylor, California, Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UCLA, USC and Utah are among the college programs that have extended early offers.
Donovyn Hunter of
South Medford (Medford) was the 2021-22 MaxPreps Oregon Player of the Year. Hunter averaged 22.6 points per game to lead the Panthers to a 24-5 record.
