The South Beloit Sobos are taking a road trip to face off against the Rochelle Hubs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Beloit has seven straight wins, Rochelle has nine straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, South Beloit made easy work of Alden-Hebron and carried off an 18-1 victory. Considering the Sobos have won six matches by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Whitney Schnack made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Taniyah Crawford was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abigail Rozsa, who earned three runs and two stolen bases.
South Beloit always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alden-Hebron only posted an OBP of .176.
Morris hit Rochelle with a five-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Hubs came up short against the Redskins, falling 13-3.
Phelisity Lopez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
South Beloit pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Rochelle, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. South Beloit has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Rochelle struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
South Beloit might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Rochelle when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can the Sobos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
