The Hoehne Farmers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Walsenburg at home and fell 67-32. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Hoehne has suffered yet this season.
Diego Lujan was Hoehne's leading scorer, having posted nine points.
Isaiah Bachicha held things down on the boards with six rebounds. He took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
It was another big night for Elton Chavez, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 23 rebounds for Walsenburg. That makes it three consecutive games in which Chavez has scored at least a third of Walsenburg's points. Nino Cisneros was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Hoehne's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Walsenburg, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hoehne will take on Crowley County at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Crowley County is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Walsenburg, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fowler at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Fowler focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight last Saturday.
