It was a good run, but the Palmer Dragons unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. The contest between Palmer and West Tallahatchie wasn't particularly close, with Palmer falling 61-45. Palmer lost against West Tallahatchie in their previous head to head back in November, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 54-44 score last time.
West Tallahatchie's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Roosevelt Phillips, who scored 18 points. That's the first time this season that Phillips scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Drexel Miller, who scored 14 points.
Palmer's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-8. As for West Tallahatchie, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palmer will face off against South Panola at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Panola is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for West Tallahatchie, they will head out on the road to face off against J.Z. George at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. J.Z. George will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 279th, while West Tallahatchie is ranked 99th).
