Basketball Recap: Covenant Day Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Kaitlyn Allen and Alex Dix

If Covenant Day was riding high fresh off their 52-30 takedown of Charlotte Christian last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Covenant Day Lions fell 38-29 to the Charlotte Latin Hawks on Friday. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Covenant Day's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Alex Dix, who posted ten points and eight rebounds, and Kaitlyn Allen, who earned six points and nine boards. Dix is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last three games she's played.

Charlotte Latin was led to victory by Lanie Edwards and Charlotte Tune. Edwards went 5 for 8 on her way to 18 points along with five boards and five steals, while Tune put up 13 points and three steals.

Covenant Day's loss dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Charlotte Latin, their record is now 15-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Covenant Day Lions duke it out with the Cannon Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cannon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.8 points per game this season. Charlotte Latin has already played their next contest (against Charlotte Country Day School), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
