The Manzanola Bobcats won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were dealt a 56-24 loss at the hands of Springfield. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Manzanola in their matchups with the Longhorns: they've now lost six in a row.
Manzanola lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Mark Holland, who scored six points along with five rebounds. Holland is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Canye Trujillo, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Colby Batterton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Springfield, scoring 12 points along with two steals. Batterton hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. Brennan Rothman was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Manzanola's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Springfield, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manzanola is on the road again on Wednesday and plays the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on February 7th. As for Springfield, they will face off against the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Stanton County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Saturday.
