The York Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell to South Point 73-68. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Wednesday (55), York still had to take the loss.
York's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryson Steele, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kwamae Shannon, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
South Point got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Christian Petty out in front who scored 15 points. Graham Williams was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds.
York has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for South Point, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. York will take on Indian Land at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Indian Land's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups. South Point's road trip will continue as they head out to face Stuart W. Cramer at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th. Stuart W. Cramer has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
