Softball Recap: Westside Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Westside strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on the Daniel Lions with a sharp 23-6 win. That looming 23-6 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Rams yet this season.

Madison Gray made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was even better at the plate, going 4-for-6 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Amelia Wilson was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Shelby Compton also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Westside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .514 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Westside's record is now 4-0. As for Daniel, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Westside will take on Atlantic Collegiate Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Daniel, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Dixie at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
