Elkmont hasn't had much luck against Ardmore recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Elkmont Red Devils are taking a road trip to square off against the Ardmore Tigers at 4:30 p.m. The last three games Elkmont has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Elkmont will bounce into Friday's match after beating East Limestone, who they had gone 0-8 against in their eight prior meetings. Elkmont had just enough and edged out East Limestone 3-2 on Thursday.
The team relied heavily on Jacob Pendergrass, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Braidyn Amick also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Ardmore had to endure a seven-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They blew past West Limestone 10-3 on Tuesday. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Dylan Rodgers looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in February of 2024.
At the plate, Skyler Jean was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Luke Ezell was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Ardmore's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Elkmont, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-1.
Ardmore's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Elkmont has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Ardmore, though, as they've been averaging only 3.2 strikeouts. Will Elkmont keep running through batters, or will Ardmore buck the trend?
Elkmont came up short against Ardmore in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 11-7. Can Elkmont avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
