Mount Carmel is 8-2 against Danville since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Tornadoes will take on the Ironmen at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Mount Carmel took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past Milton 16-1. The result was nothing new for the Tornadoes, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Gabe Yuskoski was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Lukas Carpenter, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Mount Carmel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Milton only posted an OBP of .167.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Danville). They had just enough and edged out Midd-West 11-10 on Friday.
The team relied heavily on Casey Mills, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lavern Stoltzfus, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Mount Carmel pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Danville, their record now sits at 4-9.
Danville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mount Carmel hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .438. It's a different story for Danville, though, as they've only averaged .224. Will they be able to contain Mount Carmel's hitters?
Everything went Mount Carmel's way against Danville when the teams last played on April 8th, as Mount Carmel made off with a 15-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tornadoes since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
