The South Laurel Cardinals will head out to square off against the South Oldham Dragons at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
South Laurel's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Greenup County with a sharp 13-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won three contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Kenzie Williams made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, South Laurel got a massive performance out of Morgan Jackson, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Jackson has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Bailey Frazier, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, South Oldham got the win against Owensboro on Wednesday by a conclusive 14-6. Considering the Dragons have won three games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like South Laurel, South Oldham also got a great game from a two-way player: Kaylee Fitzner. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Fitzner a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Anna Huber was a standout: she scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Lauren Young was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI.
South Laurel's record now sits at 5-2. As for South Oldham, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6.
South Oldham's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. South Laurel has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for South Oldham, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will South Laurel keep running through batters, or will the Dragons buck the trend?
