The Murray Spartans fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Olympus Titans on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Titans 80-76. Murray has not had much luck with Olympus recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Deacon Poole, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinton Christman, who scored 20 points along with three steals.
Murray's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Olympus, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Murray and Brighton will face off at 5:30 p.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Brighton is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 62.8 points per game. Olympus won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Viewmont at 8:30 p.m. on December 29th. Viewmont is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
