The Cardinal Mooney Cardinals will head out on the road to challenge the Chardon Hilltoppers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Cardinal Mooney is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Cardinal Mooney lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Archbishop Hoban, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's contest. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Knights on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Cardinals sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Ford Stacy was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in June of 2025.
In other batting news, Andrew Bushey and Kaden Reese did most of the damage at the plate: Bushey went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Reese went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one double. That's the most runs Reese has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ben Oddis, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Cardinal Mooney kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Chardon was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They fell 4-1 to Kenston.
Chardon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tim Robertson, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Cardinal Mooney's record is now 13-2. As for Chardon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.
Cardinal Mooney's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's matchup. The Cardinals have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Chardon, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Cardinal Mooney continue to outrun the ball?
