Proviso West had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Leyden Eagles on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since March 27th.

Proviso West's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Joshua Fuentes, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits Fuentes has posted since back in March.

Proviso West's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Leyden, they moved to 8-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Proviso West will welcome York at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Dukes will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Leyden, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Berwyn/Cicero Morton at 4:30 p.m. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.79 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
