Montgomery County is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kentucky's top teams: Bryan Station, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Montgomery County was ranked 18th). The Indians lost 11-1 to the Defenders on Monday. The Indians' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Lafayette waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Bulldogs an 8-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Generals, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Lyla Hould tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kierstyn Kelley was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Combs, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.
Lafayette always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.
Lafayette's win bumped their record up to 19-7. As for Montgomery County, their loss dropped their record down to 16-4.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Montgomery County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. However, it's not like Lafayette struggles in that department as they've averaged .317. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Montgomery County was able to grind out a solid victory over Lafayette in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 12-8. Do the Indians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Generals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
