Brocton extended their losing streak to seven on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-7. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Forestville Central Hornets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-0 back in April.
Paige Miller was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Sha'Nah Adams was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
As for Forestville Central, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games.
On Forestville Central's side, Elizabeth Case was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Case has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Madison Christian was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Carilene Sliwa, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Brocton is set to square off against their familiar foe Randolph at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Forestville Central will take on rival Silver Creek at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
