The Alba-Golden Panthers came tearing into Tuesday's contest with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Cooper by a score of 61-51. That's another feather in the cap for Alba-Golden, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Despite the loss, Cooper saw an underclassman step up: Marilynn Wilkerson dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. Wilkerson hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Bayleigh George, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Alba-Golden pushed their record up to 15-5 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Cooper, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-13.
Alba-Golden will take on Detroit at TBD on Monday. One thing working in Alba-Golden's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches. As for Cooper, they will take on Rivercrest at 7:45 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Cooper focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 33 on Tuesday.
