The Summit Academy Bears won the last time they faced the South Summit Wildcats, and things went their way on Saturday too. Summit Academy came out on top against South Summit by a score of 47-37.
Avery Backus continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with five steals. The game was her seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sierra Johnson, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds.
Despite the loss, South Summit still got an impressive performance from Emma Broadbent, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 19 rebounds. The game was Broadbent's 12th in a row with at least ten points.
Summit Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for South Summit, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.
Summit Academy and East will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 30, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (East is ranked 79th, while Summit Academy is ranked 65th). South Summit will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against North Summit at 6:00 p.m. on January 3rd. North Summit is on a five-game streak of home wins, South Summit a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
