The San Antonio Memorial Minutemen's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Cuero 67-15. While losing is never fun, San Antonio Memorial can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1388th, while Cuero is ranked 193rd).
Arissa Carbonara was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 16 rebounds for Cuero. That makes it five consecutive games in which Carbonara has scored at least 25% of Cuero's points. Lainee Ballin was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
San Antonio Memorial's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-16. As for Cuero, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 21-3.
San Antonio Memorial will be home for the holidays to greet John F. Kennedy at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cuero, they will head out on the road to face off against Young Women's Leadership Academy at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Young Women's Leadership Academy is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
