Basketball Recap: Buckeye Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Ruby Hudak and Ava Wolf

Buckeye was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 45-31 fall against the Lakewood Rangers. The Bucks were probably out for revenge after losing 59-30 to them when the teams met back in January, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Buckeye's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ava Wolf, who posted three points along with 21 boards, seven assists, and four steals, and Ruby Hudak, who put up seven points in addition to seven boards and four blocks. With that strong performance, Wolf is now averaging an impressive 9.3 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Kwynn Czerwony, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Buckeye smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive contests.

Buckeye's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Lakewood, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buckeye will head out to challenge Vermilion at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lakewood, they will head out on the road to face off against Avon at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
