Palo Duro had to suffer through a rough 49-20 loss at the hands of Rider. Palo Duro has struggled against Rider recently, as their match on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Palo Duro lost, one person who can't be blamed is Darien Lewis. Despite the final result, he threw for 157 yards and two touchdowns. Lewis was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards.
Kenji Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Rider, rushing for 193 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. Tyrone Morgan was in the mix too, providing Rider with two touchdowns.
Palo Duro now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Rider, the victory was the third in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palo Duro will challenge Wylie at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wylie presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Palo Duro in Texas (Wylie is ranked 188th, while Palo Duro is ranked 475th). As for Rider, they will head out on the road to face off against Plainview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
