Baseball Game Preview: Crest Lancers vs. Southeast Lancers

Crest is 8-2 against Southeast since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Crest will be playing in front of their home fans against Southeast at 3:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Crest's favor as the squad sits on nine straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Southeast has been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

On Thursday, Crest got the win against Yates Center by a conclusive 19-4. Fans of the Lancers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Crest let Kade Nilges and Henry White run wild. Nilges went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while White scored four runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Nilges is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as he's now brought in five or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Drake Weir, who scored four runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Crest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .529. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .314 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Southeast didn't have quite enough to beat Central Heights on Thursday and fell 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Lancers have lost by just one run.

Southeast saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colten Jameson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Crest's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Southeast, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Southeast's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Crest hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .441. It's a different story for Southeast, though, as they've only averaged .243. Will they be able to contain Crest's hitters?

Crest took their victory against Southeast in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 27-0 score. Will Crest repeat their success, or does Southeast has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
