The DeMotte Christian Knights had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down Frontier 43-26 on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as DeMotte Christian also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
DeMotte Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sophie Bakker led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Cheznie Kooy was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with four steals.
Ashlyn Minniear and Madyson Mears certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Minniear scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and two steals, while Mears scored six points along with two steals. Minniear is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played.
DeMotte Christian's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-10. As for Frontier, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. DeMotte Christian will take on Rensselaer Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rensselaer Central will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line. As for Frontier, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Clinton Prairie at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Clinton Prairie focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Saturday.
