Slater is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Sturgeon is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Wildcats will host the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last six games Slater has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Slater took a 14-run defeat the last time they faced off against Pilot Grove, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Tigers 7-6. The Wildcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Tristen Klasing was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Slater is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-4 otherwise. Klasing was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Tytan Wiseman, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Gochenour, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Sturgeon fell victim to Centralia and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 2-0. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
