Volleyball Recap: Malia Barrow and Marissa Titel Secure Win for Deforest

DeForest barely beat Monona Grove the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Norskies put the hurt on the Silver Eagles with a sharp 3-0 win on Thursday. That three set margin sets a new team best for the Norskies this season.

One reason for the win was DeForest's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-16, 25-14.

DeForest was led to victory by Marissa Titel and Malia Barrow. Titel had 19 digs and one assist, while Barrow had nine digs.

DeForest was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That's the most aces they've posted in their last 15 matches.

Payton Hanson and Emma Tormey certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Hanson had six digs and two aces, while Tormey had four digs.

DeForest is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Monona Grove, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season.

DeForest will square off against Madison West at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Monona Grove, they will host Cambridge at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
