Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Alijah Felder was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Zyrian Pittman was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Defeat or not, Southeast Halifax got some senior leadership from Travis Johnson Jr. who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals and Tyrone Williams Jr. who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Kaizavion Lawrence, who scored seven points.
Southeast Halifax struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
North Edgecombe pushed their record up to 6-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 83.2 points per game. As for Southeast Halifax, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Edgecombe won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Tarboro at 6:00 p.m. on January 6th. Greensville County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Southeast Halifax in their respective states (Greensville County is ranked 77th in Virginia, while Southeast Halifax is ranked 205th in North Carolina).
