This season hasn't been kind to The South Cougars, who are still winless after their seventh match. They were outmatched by Eisenhower on the road and fell 56-7. South was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-0.
Landon Putman threw for 105 yards on 12 of 29 attempts. Tristan Bernhardt was his top target, picking up 39 receiving yards and no touchdowns. On the ground, Carson Power rushed for 49 yards and a touchdown.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eisenhower to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lucas Dickman, who rushed for 194 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per carry, and also threw for six yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Dickman is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Derek Morgan, who threw for 151 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes.
South's defeat was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 12-1 Maize and 12-1 Maize (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 69.9% over those games). As for Eisenhower, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South will face off against Maize South at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Maize South comes into the match much higher ranked than South in Kansas (Maize South is ranked 23rd, while South is ranked 139th). As for Eisenhower, they will head out on the road to face off against Goddard at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
