Columbus Academy moved up to 258 from 318 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Mid-State - Ohio. A 42-21 win over Heath helped the Vikings improve their standing.
Newark Catholic extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Bexley, 20-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Brandon Ward was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 38 yards on eight carries as Lakewood lost to Licking Valley. Teammate Alex Napier added to the ground attack by rushing for 37 yards.
Rusher was the best wideout in Mid-State - Ohio this week as the Lancers lost to the Panthers. Rusher tallied two receptions for three yards. Zac Holbrook helped Lakewood's passing attack out by catching one ball for two yards.
Lakewood's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Lancers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Napier has thrown for 154 yards and one touchdown this season, while Junior King has five catches for 97 yards. Ward leads the league in rushing with 194 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Newark Catholic takes on Licking Valley. As it stands, Bill Franks's team is in first, while Randy Baughman's team is in third.
The Panthers took down Lakewood 54-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
