Shadyside hasn't had much luck against Caldwell recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Tigers will look to defend their home field against the Redskins at 5:00 p.m.
Last Wednesday, Shadyside came up short against Bridgeport and fell 8-3. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ariana Saxton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Shadyside saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brianna Harris, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base was Harris' first of the season.
Meanwhile, Caldwell never let their opponents score on Monday. They put the hurt on Shenandoah with a sharp 12-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Redskins, who have now won four matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Caldwell let Sophia Marshall and Asie Poland run wild. Marshall went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Poland scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most hits Marshall has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Laynie Sidwell, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
The victory made it two in a row for Caldwell and bumps their season record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Shadyside, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Shadyside has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Caldwell struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Shadyside suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Caldwell in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Tigers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
