The Lake Mead Academy Eagles had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat White Pine 63-0 at home. Considering Lake Mead Academy has won eight contests by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Lake Mead Academy found their leader in underclassman Jerry Meyer iii, who threw for 191 yards and six touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes. Meyer iii is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was Chayse Valenzuela, who rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns.
The victory (which was Lake Mead Academy's seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-7 White Pine and 1-7 White Pine (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36% over those games). As for White Pine, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
Lake Mead Academy will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Incline at 1:00 p.m. Incline is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. White Pine does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
