Grossmont and Helix are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Foothillers will take on the Highlanders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Helix will be up against a hot Grossmont team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Foothillers' pitcher stepped up to hand Monte Vista a 13-0 shutout on Wednesday.

Nakhia Lee made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one double.
In other batting news, Ashley Beard and Heidi Villa did most of the damage at the plate: Beard went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Villa got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Jules Short also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Helix got the win against Mount Miguel on Wednesday by a conclusive 18-2. The result was nothing new for the Highlanders, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Nikaylah Domingo, who went 3-for-4 with seven RBI, three runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maliyah Domingo, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
Helix hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 14 consecutive matches.
Helix is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.9 runs over those games. As for Grossmont, their record now sits at 10-15-1.
Grossmont might still be hurting after the 15-3 loss they got from Helix in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Foothillers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
