Baseball Recap: Williamsville North Starts Season with Win Against St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute

Williamsville North had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute Marauders with a sharp 9-3 win. This was payback for the Spartans, who suffered a 2-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

AJ Weissenburg was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Nathan Marcarian, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Williamsville North always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute only posted an OBP of .375.

Looking ahead, Williamsville North will challenge Lancaster at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give Williamsville North their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute, they will square off against McQuaid Jesuit at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
