The Chatfield Chargers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their seventh straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 68-67 to Lakewood. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Wednesday (56), Chatfield still had to take the loss.
Chatfield lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tony Rondinelli, who scored 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Mcguire, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Lakewood can attribute much of their success to Sam Silburn, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Silburn has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brandon Bazan-Torres, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Chatfield bumped their record down to 2-11 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Lakewood, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chatfield will challenge Columbine at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Columbine is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Lakewood, they will head out on the road to challenge Arvada West at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Arvada West presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lakewood in Colorado (Arvada West is ranked 50th, while Lakewood is ranked 186th).
