The Lafayette Christian Cougars can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They blew past Praise Academy 74-50. The victory was familiar territory for Lafayette Christian who now have five in a row.
Lafayette Christian was led to victory by Joshua Zapata and Bruno Tellez. Zapata scored 22 points along with two steals, while Tellez scored 36 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Tellez has scored at least a third of Lafayette Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Vakiel Hammett, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Lafayette Christian is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Praise Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-14.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Holy Ground Baptist Academy the next time they take the court. Lafayette Christian will head out to face Holy Ground Baptist Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, while Praise Academy will host them at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
