On Thursday, Gretna East was able to grind out a solid victory over Elkhorn South, taking the game 49-39.
Elkhorn South lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Mollie Probasco, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Rowan Swartz, who scored eight points.
Gretna East is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Elkhorn South, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11.
Gretna East's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Lincoln High at 3:00 p.m. on February 10th. Hopefully Gretna East is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lincoln High in Nebraska (Gretna East is ranked 40th, while Lincoln High is ranked 179th). As for Elkhorn South, they will head out on the road to square off against Burke at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Elkhorn South focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Thursday.
