West Wendover has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Incline Highlanders at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
A well-balanced attack led West Wendover over Oasis Academy in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that West Wendover blew Oasis Academy out of the water with a 58-25 final score. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win West Wendover has posted since December 16, 2023.
West Wendover can attribute much of their success to Adryan Carlos, who scored 14 points along with four steals and three blocks, and Osvaldo Carrillo, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Carrillo hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Narcizo Silvas, who scored six points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Incline had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.3 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 84-14 win over Silver Stage. Incline's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Tommy Williams continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with seven assists and seven steals. Williams is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Halen Hanson was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
West Wendover's victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.27 points. As for Incline, their win bumped their record up to 15-2.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as West Wendover and Incline are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. West Wendover hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 62.1 points per game. However, it's not like Incline struggles in that department as they've been averaging 61.6 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
West Wendover didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Incline in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 53-48 victory. Does West Wendover have another victory up their sleeve, or will Incline turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
