The Franklin County Tech Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Carver Crusaders at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Franklin County Tech never let their opponents score. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mahar Regional 46-0 on the road. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Franklin County Tech's zero-point performance the contest before.
Franklin County Tech relied on the efforts of Josiah Little, who rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries, and Gabriel Tomasi, who rushed for 65 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries. Tomasi was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 51 yards. Hunter Donahue got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Carver put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Mashpee with a sharp 40-16 victory.
Tyler Lennox had an outrageously good game as he threw for 327 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek Lopes, who picked up 162 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Franklin County Tech's win was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 6-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-11 Smith Vo-Tech and 1-7 McCann Tech (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 28.6% over those games). As for Carver, their win bumped their record up to 8-0.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Franklin County Tech has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 192.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Carver struggles in that department as they've been averaging 155.1 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
