After only one run in their last matchup, Centennial made sure to put some runs up on the board against Mansfield Timberview on Friday. The Spartans were the clear victors by an 18-6 margin over the Wolves. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 contests by six runs or more this season.
Alyssa Mayner made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March.
In other batting news, Madelyn Hickey was a standout: she fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 4-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Madison Haynes was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Centennial hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in eight consecutive games.
Centennial has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Mansfield Timberview, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-8.
