If The Walkersville Lions were riding high off their 48-0 takedown of the Catoctin Cougars last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Walkersville fell to Middletown 20-14. Walkersville has struggled against Middletown recently, as their contest on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Walkersville's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 4-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 Oakdale and 8-1 Westminster (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 75% over those games). As for Middletown, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Walkersville will take on Poolesville at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Poolesville comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Middletown, they will be playing at home against Francis Scott Key at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
