Troy has gone 9-1 against Williamson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Trojans will square off against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. The last three games Troy has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Wednesday, Troy didn't have quite enough to beat Wellsboro and fell 9-8.
Haidyn Watson put in work while hitting and pitching. She tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and eight unearned) runs off nine hits. Watson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
Watson wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Maddyson Muir, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI. That hit marked the first that Muir has got this season. Lauren Reed was another, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Williamson's offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Athens on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Warriors' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Kenna Thomas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
Having lost for the first time this season, Williamson fell to 4-1. As for Troy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Troy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Williamson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Troy's way against Williamson in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, as Troy made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
