The O'Connor Panthers fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They put the hurt on Sotomayor with a sharp 38-17 win on Saturday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as O'Connor also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead O'Connor to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ryder Dorn, who threw for 238 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. Will Locke did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 89 receiving yards and a touchdown.
When it comes to explaining why Sotomayor lost, one person who can't be blamed is Henry Alonzo. Despite the final result, he threw for 159 yards and two touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Sotomayor's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was Shawn Wasley and his two sacks.
O'Connor's victory bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Sotomayor, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
O'Connor will be playing in front of their home fans against Holmes at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Holmes is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Sotomayor, they will head out on the road to face off against Warren at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
