Skyview is 8-1 against Gateway since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Wolverines will venture away from home to square off against the Olympians at 4:00 p.m. Skyview will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Skyview came out on top against Overland on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Wolverines never let the Blazers get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.
Marcus Archuleta was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Kaleb Rodriguez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Skyview is undefeated when Rodriguez posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Adrian Sanchez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Skyview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .355 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Gateway unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Adams City by a score of 2-1.
Gateway saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Heber Almeida, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Skyview's record now sits at 9-6. As for Gateway, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Skyview has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Gateway struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Skyview was able to grind out a solid win over Gateway when the teams last played on April 7th, winning 6-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
