On Wednesday, things could have been worse for Roosevelt, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 70-54 loss to Heritage. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Roosevelt came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 13th in District of Columbia, while Heritage is ranked 134th in North Carolina).
Roosevelt's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jawuan Carter, who scored 13 points along with three steals, and Jamall Price, Jr. who scored nine points along with three steals. The contest was Carter's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Brendan Grant was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Heritage got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryder Strand out in front who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jon Mwanda, who scored 14 points.
Roosevelt's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Heritage, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.
Roosevelt won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Voyager at 11:30 a.m. on December 28th. Voyager is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 62.1 points per game. Heritage won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Neumann-Goretti at 7:00 p.m. on December 28th. Neumann-Goretti knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Heritage likes a good challenge.
