Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up ten more assists than your opponent, a fact the Jefferson-Morgan Rockets proved on Tuesday. They took down Bentworth 42-28. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Jefferson-Morgan.
Jefferson-Morgan was led to victory by Huston Guesman and Dayten Marion. Guesman scored 11 points along with 6 rebounds, while Marion dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Marion has scored at least 25% of Jefferson-Morgan's points.
Several Bearcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ross Skerbetz, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Burt, who scored 6 points along with 7 rebounds.
Jefferson-Morgan now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Bentworth, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson-Morgan will take on Waynesburg Central at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Waynesburg Central and Jefferson-Morgan are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads. As for Bentworth, they will head out on the road to face off against Avella at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
