Battery Creek is 1-9 against Hampton County since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Battery Creek Dolphins are on the road again and play against the Hampton County Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Battery Creek has not done well against Whale Branch recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Battery Creek pulled ahead with a 45-44 photo finish over Whale Branch.
Alizjah Mathis was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The matchup was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Que Williams, who scored six points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Hampton County waltzed into their game Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They managed a 58-53 victory over Hilton Head Island.
Battery Creek pushed their record up to 5-2 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Hampton County, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Battery Creek took a serious blow against Hampton County in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, falling 56-27. Thankfully for Battery Creek, Brendon Brantley (who scored 20 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
