The Sunset Knights struggled with assists on Monday (the Braddock Bulldogs had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Sunset took a serious blow against Braddock, falling 52-19. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Sunset has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Sunset still got an impressive performance from Alyssa Torrech, who scored nine points along with six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for Torrech.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Sunset struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Elsa Stier continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Braddock, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Stier has scored at least 25% of Braddock's points. Another player making a difference was Daniella Pujadas, who scored six points along with six steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Sunset and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Braddock, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sunset will take on American at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. American's defense has only allowed 28.5 points per game this season, so Sunset's offense will have their work cut out for Sunset. Braddock won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Mater Academy Charter at 3:30 p.m. on December 12th. Mater Academy Charter is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
