The Salem Academy Charter Navigator will challenge the Notre Dame Cristo Rey Panthers at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Notre Dame Cristo Rey took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Salem Academy Charter, who comes in off a win.
While Salem Academy Charter's win against Excel Academy Charter wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Navigator had just enough and edged out the Wolves 10-9. The Navigator's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Yuriel Gonzalez Vargas and Emilio Saez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Gonzalez Vargas pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Saez pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Gonzalez Vargas has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Gonzalez Vargas got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI, while Saez got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That run was Gonzalez Vargas' first of the season.
In other batting news, Salem Academy Charter got a massive performance out of Isaac Solano, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those hits were Solano's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Avri Taguiam, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Salem Academy Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame Cristo Rey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 4-0 to Minuteman Regional.
The victory made it two in a row for Salem Academy Charter and bumps their season record up to 2-3. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Notre Dame Cristo Rey, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
Salem Academy Charter beat Notre Dame Cristo Rey 8-3 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Navigator repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
