It was a good run, but The Claremore Zebras unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They and Bishop Kelley were almost perfectly matched up, but Claremore suffered an agonizing 42-41 defeat. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (35), Claremore still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Claremore still got an impressive performance from Braxton Etheridge, who threw for 177 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Tyson Grimett also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Claremore's loss dropped their record down to 7-1-1. As for Bishop Kelley, their victory was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 6-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Claremore will take on Will Rogers College at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Will Rogers College is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Bishop Kelley, they will head out on the road to face off against Nathan Hale at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Nathan Hale will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while Bishop Kelley is ranked 18th).
